Background Information:
The late Dr Eberhard Wenzel was an academic in the School of Public Health and worked in public health with a range of international health agencies for over 20 years. Dr Wenzel had a tremendous knowledge and understanding of public health issues facing humanity and his establishment of the Virtual Library for Public Health and the International Public Health Watch websites provided important means for him to engage with others who shared his passion for the field.
The objective of this Scholarship is to enable students to undertake research which will advance understanding of a public health topic relevant to the academic interests of the late Dr Eberhard Wenzel.
There is one (1) Scholarship valued at $2,000, for a student enrolled in either full or part-time study in the Master of Public Health (research option) or an Honours program with the School of Public Health. The intent of the scholarship is to support the thesis component of the student’s honours or masters program of study.
Selection will be based on review and assessment of applications.
    The Scholarship is open to all applicants of:
·         Griffith Health Group Honours Program enrolled with the School of Public Health
·         Master of Public Health (research option),
·         Master of Health Services Management (honours).
·         The scholarship is open to both Australian residents and international students of the above named programs
    The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of Grade Point Average (GPA), referees reports, applicant’s proposed project and relevance to Dr Eberhard Wenzel’s research interests and the applicant’s personal achievements.

Gowrie Trust Scholarship opportunity


Scholarship Title: The Gowrie Trust Scholarship

Purpose
In accordance with the Trust Deed, Gowrie Scholarhips will be awarded to members of the Forces and children of members of the Forces, including, in the discretion of the Trustees, grandchildren or other lineal descendants of such members. Please see here for further information.

Selection basis
The scholarship will be open to any Australian citizen but preference will be given to past and present members of the Australian Armed Forces and their lineal descendants with special consideration being given to a lineal descendant of a member of the Australian Armed Forces who died or has died as a result of any occurrence happening in the Second World War of subsequent wars in which the Australian Armed Forces are or have been involved.

The University funds a number of scholarships for Doctor of Philosophy or Professional Doctorate by research.

Other benefits
A scholar who is resident elsewhere in Australia or who is permanently residing outside Australia at the time of application, is eligible to receive the following contributions towards the costs of moving to Canberra to take up the Scholarship:
    Travel expenses up to a maximum amount equivalent to the one way economy class or student fare by the cheapest and most direct course on a scheduled route for the scholar, spouse and/or dependent children, on production of original tax invoice/receipts.
    A grant towards the costs of removal of belongings to Canberra, of up to $530 per adult, and $262 per child with a maximum of $1,530 per family on production of original tax invoice/receipts.

Eligibility
Bachelors degree with first-class honours, or a research Masters degree from a recognised university; Australian and New Zealand Citizen; Permanent Residents of Australia; International students. Applicants must have submitted an Application for Admission to the ANU.

Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) scholarship opportunity


Scholarship Title: Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA)

Purpose
The Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation,Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE) makes available each year a number of awards for study by research leading to a higher degree. It is normal for recipients to undertake study on a full-time basis, although, subject to strict criteria set by DIISRTE the award may be offered for part-time study.
Value: A$24,653 (2013 rate) per annum, tax free paid in fortnightly instalments
Other benefits
Travel to Canberra from within Australia; reimbursement of some removal expenses; thesis reimbursement allowance
Duration: Three years full-time with a possible six month extension. The award may be offered for part-time study in very special circumstances prescribed by DIISR.
