Job Summary
Zurich is seeking to hire a highly qualified and motivated life insurance Propositions expert to build and lead our Global Life North America Propositions team.  The position will be responsible for expanding our product portfolio in our various product lines including both Group and Individual Life products.  At Zurich, Global Life North America is a quickly growing team and spans across new business lines as well as Farmers Life and considered one of the key growth areas of Zurich’s Global Life strategy.

The position requires developing our Propositions Team, comprised mainly of skilled pricing actuaries, responsible for conceptualizing, designing, pricing, reinsuring, risk accessing and actualizing Life products for all product lines in North America.   The Propositions Team objective is to identify market opportunities for product development, analyze pricing for risk balance and then translate those opportunities into cutting edge, competitive, sustainable, affordable and high quality life insurance products.

Position Description: 
Team Development
• Build, lead and develop a team of Life pricing actuaries to develop innovative and compelling new product solutions for our clients and design those solutions within constraints on cost, quality and risk appetite.
• Establish a high performance-oriented culture that lives the Zurich Basics and fuel a passion within the team for designing and building innovative consumer products
• Communicate with and participate in our Global Propositions team regarding product creations, resource needs and risk management.
• Create annual and long-term budget plans for the Propositions Team.

Strategy and Market Insight
• Participate in the Regional Executive Committee to develop strategy and business partnerships and assist the senior management team in the formulation of company strategy
• Oversee competitive market analysis to gain awareness and stay abreast of market trends
• Contribute business and trend strategy based on program plans and unit projections
• Partner with the Global Marketing team to identify branding ideas and issues
• Assess market reaction to products post roll out
• Develop monthly product development and distribution reports utilizing data from both actual sales and pipeline management to track sales trends and identify product issues
• Assist in presenting products to potential clients, as needed.

Product Design, Implementation and Maintenance
• Partner with Operations, Legal, compliance and finance to oversee the establishment of front to back procedures for initial roll out products including identifying system and procedural needs.
• Implement and lead a unified product development process by managing internal and external resources from market insights through to launch and post-launch improvements.
• Plan and deliver products that meet specified performance and cost criteria within development budget and timetable by managing time & action calendar of the Propositions Team to ensure on time and on budget for delivery of new product launches
• Select, manage and maintain relationships with high quality professional service providers.
• Negotiate and monitor Reinsurance agreements.
• Assures that actuarial support is provided for various national/local filings, regulatory or management requirements.

Job Qualifications Required:
Bachelors Degree
10 Or More Years Of Related Experience

Preferred:
1. BA/BS in Math, Statistics, Business or insurance related coursework.
2. Completion of seven to nine actuarial exams.
3. Five or more years of experience in applying actuarial principles.
4. Experience in loss distributions, modeling and simulation techniques.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Proven ability to develop long and short range plans that link to corporate strategy.
7. Experience leading a team of professionals.
8. Advanced knowledge of and proficiency with spreadsheet, database andword processing software.
