High Achievers Scholarships, opportunity



Scholarship Title: High Achievers Scholarships,Vice-Chancellor's Prize    
Amount:      $6,000
Duration: One-off payment

Scholarship Information:  There will be a number of scholarships awarded based on Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) - these will be awarded by the Vice-Chancellor.
Scholarship Title: Pro Vice-Chancellors' Scholarships
Amount: $6,000 for the first year and then $5,000 for subsequent years

Duration: Up to 4 years

Scholarship Information:
There will be two scholarships awarded to the two highest achieving students based on ATAR entering each faculty; Law, Education, Business and Arts (LEBA) and Engineering, Health, Science and the Environment (EHSE).
There is no application required for these scholarships. Students who are eligible for these scholarships will be contacted in writing. In order to accept these scholarships the student must be:
·             an NT School leaver, having completed the NTCET or IB in 2013
·             an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, and a resident of the Northern Territory
·             intending to study full time and must complete at least 75% of their units internally each Semester
·             enrolled as a student when the scholarship offer is accepted.
Other High Achievers scholarships
Scholarship Title: Department of Infrastructure Co-Op Scholarship in Engineering.
Amount: $67,500 plus paid work placements over the duration of the course.

Scholarship Information:
There will be up to four* scholarships awarded to the highest ranked entrants.
There is no application required for these scholarships. Students who are eligible for these scholarships will be contacted by Charles Darwin University and will be assessed on the basis of academic merit. In order to be considered for these scholarships students must:
·             receive an offer into the Bachelor of Engineering Co-Op course at Charles Darwin University in the main offer round.
·             be an NT School Leaver to enrolling in a Bachelor of Engineering Co-Op at Charles Darwin University, having completed the NTCET or IB in 2013
·             have completed required mathematics subjects
·             be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, and a resident of the Northern Territory.
The selection of the recipients will be undertaken by the Head of the School of Engineering.

You may be eligible for a Bookshop Grant up to the value of $250. At the beginning of each Semester, the generosity of the Curtin University Bookshop enables the Guild to provide grants to eligible (undergraduate, enrolled in a minimum of 50 credit pts) Curtin students in financial need.

Eligibility criteria
To be eligible, you must be able to answer YES to one of the following questions:
    Are you in receipt of a means tested Centrelink payment?
    OR Are you in possession of a Commonwealth Centrelink Concession Card?
    OR Are you on a low income; meaning an income within $500 of a Centrelink income threshold, relative to your circumstances (inclusive of International students)?
    OR Are you living with your parent(s) AND one of your parents is in receipt of a means tested Centrelink allowance OR your parents combined income is below $45’000 pa?
Enrolment requirements
Unless there are exceptional circumstances such as, but not limited, to medical or family reasons, students must meet ALL of the following:
    Remain enrolled in initial course of study
    Maintain a full time study load of at least 100 credit points each semester at Curtin University
    Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 70 each semester
    Pass all units attempted each semester
Scholarship continuity is subject to meeting satisfactory academic progress as outlined above. Progress will be assessed at the end of each study period.  Unless there are exceptional circumstances, a recipient with unsatisfactory progress or who breaches the scholarship conditions shall be ineligible to retain the scholarship. Exceptional circumstances must be forwarded to and shall be at the discretion of the Scholarships Office in consultation with XXXX.

The CBS Honours Scholarship is to encourage and assist students in financial need to undertake or who are currently undertaking an Honours year at Curtin in Semester 1, 2014.

The Curtin Business School Honours Scholarship will provide the following support for up to a maximum of 1 year (based on full-time study load of 100 credits per semester):
    A total value of up to $4,000 paid as a cash stipend of $2,000 per semester. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational expenses.
Payments occur post census date each semester. Payments will be made approximately mid-end April and September.

Changes to enrolment

Change of course: Change of course is not permitted.                                                                     
Leave of absence: Leave of absence is not permitted.
Withdrawal or Terminated from units or course: A student who withdraws from their units or course of study, or has been terminated from studies will become ineligible for continuation of the scholarship, will not receive any further payments and will be required to repay to the University any stipend awarded for that study period if applicable.
