Domestic Scholarships opportunities



Scholarship Title: Domestic Scholarships available
Closing Date: Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) - Applications close 31 March 2014!
Successful applicants must commence by 31 August 2014.
Australian Postgraduate Awards are prestigious scholarships funded by the Commonwealth Department of Industry and provide an indexed stipend - paid fortnightly - of $25,392 (2014 rate) per annum. Additional benefits include paid sick leave, maternity/paternity leave, relocation and a thesis allowance.
To be eligible, applicants must:
·             be an Australian citizen, or a permanent resident;
·             have completed a Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours, or equivalent;
·             be undertaking a Higher Degree by Research;

·             be enrolled as a full-time student;
·             not hold an equivalent, or higher, research qualification;
·             not have previously held a Commonwealth-funded postgraduate research scholarship, unless it was terminated within six months of payments commencing;
·             not be receiving an equivalent award, scholarship or salary providing a benefit greater than 75% of the APA stipend rate to undertake the degree.
Successful applicants will also be awarded a Commonwealth-funded Research Training Scheme (RTS) place, which will cover their tuition fees.
University Postgraduate Research Scholarships (UPRS) 2015
Successful applicants must commence by March 31 2015 unless approved otherwise.
These scholarships are offered by Charles Darwin University to postgraduate research students undertaking projects that fall within the University's research priority areas.
UPRS are open to Australian and overseas applicants and currently offer stipend valued at $25,392 (2014 rate) per annum.
To be eligible, applicants must:
·             have completed a Bachelor Degree with Second Class Honours (Division A), or equivalent;
·             be undertaking a Higher Degree by Research;
·             be enrolled as a full-time student;
·             not hold an equivalent, or higher, research qualification.
Additional benefits include paid annual leave, sick leave and maternity/paternity leave entitlements, relocation and thesis allowance. Overseas applicants must be able to cover their course tuition fees to apply. Find out about the conditions of the award.
Scholarship Title: Enhanced Living & Relocation Allowance Scholarship 2015
Charles Darwin University (CDU) is offering generous PhD scholarships valued at up to $40,000 pa, including a relocation allowance and tuition fees paid.
Australian Postgraduate Award - APAs are prestigious stipend (living allowance) scholarships funded by the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE). The stipend is currently $25,392 (2014 rate) per annum and paid fortnightly for a maximum duration of 3.5 years. Additional benefits include paid sick leave, maternity/paternity leave and a thesis allowance.
University-funded Top Up - The University will top up the APA stipend to the combined value of $40,000 per annum, paid on a fortnightly basis, for a maximum duration of 3.5 years.
Research Training Scheme - Your PhD tuition fees will be covered by a Commonwealth-funded RTS place at the University for a maximum duration of 4 years.
Relocation Allowance - You will be entitled to claim reimbursement on eligible expenses associated with relocation to the Northern Territory, to a maximum of $1,500.
To be eligible for this Scholarship, applicants must:
• be a domestic student; and
• be relocating to the Northern Territory for the purpose of undertaking your PhD study in 2014; and
• have completed an Australian Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours, or be regarded by the University as having an equivalent level of attainment; and
• be enrolling as a full-time student to undertake a PhD; and
• not hold a Research Doctorate degree or an equivalent research qualification; and
• not previously have held an Australian Government-funded postgraduate research scholarship, unless it was terminated within six months of the scholarship's payments commencing; and
• not be receiving an equivalent award, scholarship or salary providing a benefit greater than 75% of the APA stipend rate to undertake the HDR. Income earned from sources unrelated to the course of study is not subject to the 75% rule.

Domestic fee waiver
Domestic fee waiver scholarships cover course fees for domestic students and vary in value from course to course.
