Koch Nitrogen Company, LLC (KNC) owns and operates facilities in Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska that produce anhydrous ammonia, UAN and urea. Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC, operates a production facility in Brandon, Manitoba, that produces anhydrous ammonia, ammonium nitrate, UAN and urea. In addition, Koch Fertilizer, LLC owns storage and terminal assets in northwest Europe with trading offices in Switzerland, France and United Kingdom.
Koch Nitrogen Company is seeking candidates to fill the Environmental Engineer role. This position will support the Environmental Leader at the KNC’s Beatrice, NE Fertilizer Plant in implementing and complying with Environmental regulatory programs. This role will assist in:
Preparing facility environmental permit renewal applications
Obtaining and evaluating data needed for environmental reporting
Providing oversight and management of environmental contractors in the field during plant projects and turnarounds
Conducting and documenting compliance-related field inspections
Integrating environmental compliance initiatives into the line organization
Provide backup to the Environmental Leader for release reporting
Performing laboratory analysis
Hazardous waste and water waste analysis
Storm water plans and inspections
This role will routinely interact with the plant Environmental Leader and with other members of the plant management team, along with corporate engineering, legal and business leaders.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Engineering or related science from an accredited institution
Formal Engineering or environmental training (wastewater, waste, wet chemistry lab experience, biology, chemistry)
Experience with Microsoft Office applications
Good interpersonal skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to identify root project opportunities and work independently to achieve goals
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in both an office and outdoor plant environment
Ability to travel overnight when necessary
Ability to wear emergency escape respiratory equipment
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Ability to work on uneven surfaces for extended periods of time
Ability to climb ladders up to 100 feet and work in adverse weather conditions
Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary
Preferred
1+ years’ of Environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing, chemical or refinery operation
Experience using software applications and databases
