Position Purpose:
The John Ogonowski and Doug Bereuter Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) Program provides voluntary technical assistance to farmers, farm groups, and agribusinesses in developing and transitional countries to promote sustainable improvements in food security and agricultural processing, production, and marketing. The program relies on the expertise of volunteers from U.S. farms, land grant universities, cooperatives, private agribusinesses, and nonprofit farm organizations to respond to the local needs of host-country farmers and organizations.

This position will support Land O’Lakes F2F Program for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The position will have several responsibilities:

1) Volunteer Recruitment (approximately 75 percent). The Program Support Specialist will be responsible for the recruitment of U.S. volunteers to provide short-term (two to three weeks) technical assistance to the Farmer-to-Farmer program in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. S/he will identify competitive personnel to respond to identified and acute needs from our host organizations as identified by our Country Directors and our Program Director. S/he will source and recruit volunteers using traditional and non-traditional recruitment methods, as well as mobilize, onboard and process expenses for volunteers while also managing candidate pools of experts, both internal and external to Land O’Lakes.

2) Communications Support (approximately 15 percent) . The Program Support Specialist will work closely with Land O’Lakes Communications team to create and disseminate information that will be used to recruit potential volunteers and publicize program successes and progress using a variety of traditional media channels as well as social media networks (such as Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr). S/he will author/co-author volunteer success stories, contribute content for semi-annual and annual reports, and maintain and regularly update the F2F MENA volunteer blog.

3) Program Operations Support (approximately 15 percent) . Finally, the Program Support Specialist will work closely with the Program Director, Country Directors, and home office operations and support staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the F2F program

Qualifications
Required Experience/Knowledge (to be able to perform this job):

B.A./B.S. degree in Business, International Relations, Human Resources Management or closely related field with a minimum of 3 years’ experience;
Demonstrated recruiting experience and ability to creatively source candidates for challenging profiles, preferably for international development;
Superb communication skills (written and verbal), fluent in English, active listener, customer focused, and unquestionable ethics and values;
Knowledge and experience utilizing electronic and social media to recruit volunteers and disseminate programmatic information;
Must have strong collaboration and facilitation skills as well as demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with all levels of employees;
Ability to manage recruitment under high stress and impending deadlines;
Able to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, present facts and ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, make recommendations effectively, and execute plans of action;
Must have excellent organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail and accurate record keeping;
Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Sharepoint.

Preferred Experience/Knowledge:
Prior experience with USAID, USDA and/or other donor proposal development and recruiting practices;
Must possess knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of Human Resources Management;
Background or experience in agriculture, food quality and safety or food systems.
Experience using recruitment databases and systems.
Fluency in a second language; French or Arabic preferred.
