Dept/Division Information
This position will be located in the AEGON USA Investment Management, LLC., which oversees asset management for AEGON USA's operating companies. Asset classes include public bonds, private placements, commercial mortgage loans, equities and alternative investments. Significant funds are invested in nearly every fixed income and equity sector. Offices are located in Cedar Rapids, IA and Baltimore, MD.

Responsibilities
AEGON USA Investment Management is seeking an intern immediately for the Fall 2013 term. This internship will provide support for one or all of the following fixed income asset classes: Corporate Investment Grade Bonds, Corporate High Yield Bonds, Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities, and/or Mortgage Backed Securities. In addition, the internship will complete three independent credit research analysis projects of increasing complexity utilizing techniques and guidance from Senior Analyst mentors. The candidate must be able to commit 30 hours per week for a period of 6 months. Job responsibilities with the internship will vary depending on the candidate's background and skill set. AEGON USA Investment Management manages over $100 billion in assets, primarily in fixed-income asset classes. The location of the internship is Cedar Rapids, IA. The goal of this internship is to provide a mutually beneficial experience with potential future employment opportunities for superior performers.
Qualifications
- -Candidates must exhibit a successful academic record, preferably in a finance-related field.
- -The candidate should also have strong analytical skills and demonstrate effective communication skills.
- -Ideal candidates will be in junior year; will accept seniors, but must have at least one semester to complete after internship concludes
- -Note: We cannot employ students as interns who will graduate prior to the internship
Other Information
- - This internship is a paid position and will require 30 hours per week. The timeframe is August 13th, 2013 –January 14th, 2014 (dates somewhat flexible)
- -Candidates selected for second round interview will be required to complete an Excel aptitude test
