Description
Performs a variety of in-process and completed item inspections on a variety of cable/harness assemblies, electrical/mechanical subassemblies and assemblies and/or metal fabricated parts.

 Various in-process manufacturing and quality assurance procedures.  Interdepartmental cooperation with peers and other teams.  Accountable for assigned work performance and quality of product.  Errors could result in tasks / projects not being completed on schedule.  Work is reviewed occasionally for accuracy.

 ·         Under normal direction, inspects a variety of precision non-complex electrical and/or mechanical parts, subassemblies, assemblies, electrical /mechanical products including visual, in-process, dimensional and final inspections.  Sets up workstations and/or CMM as necessary.
·         Measures various parts tolerances to ensure work is within specifications using various inspection instruments such as rotab, electronics height gauges, super micrometers, gauge blocks, dial bore, gauges, surface plates, etc.
·         Reads and interprets blue prints process sheets, inspection instructions, and product specifications using common inspection measuring tools to check the accuracy of manufactured parts.  Initiates corrective and preventive actions and process improvement as needed.
·         Submits major assemblies and machined parts to customer for inspection and provides assistance and technical support during the acceptance process.
·         Maintains clean and safe work environment.







Qualifications

Education / Certification:

High school graduate or equivalent education, training and/or related work experience.  Completion of the basic related Operations training modules or proof of competence is required.



Knowledge / Experience:

Typically requires three (3) years of related work experience in inspection and/or assembly.  Must have a basic knowledge of the inspection tools needed to perform job tasks.  Must know and be certified to inspect using IPC 610, 620 and J-Std 001 criteria.  Must demonstrate good work habits and adhere to the basic team principles including all safety requirements.  Requires a working knowledge of reading blue prints and the use of small inspection type hand tools.  Must be willing to share ideas and contribute to team meetings and discussions.  Must have the ability to recognize, document, and resolve quality deficiencies or problem areas of a limited scope.  Ability to access and interpret process improvement charts.  Must us math skills to make required calculations n the inspection process.  Must be familiar with threaded fastener and hardware  stack-up applications.  Must be familiar with First Article Inspection per AS9102 and Final Inspection on completed assembly or systems.
