Summary:
Directs the purchase, installation, maintenance, trouble shooting, and training for all computer equipment, copy equipment, area networks, internet services, fax equipment, and telephone equipment for the co-op. Supervises technical support staff. Manages technical support staff to provide quality service to the employees and the members of the co-op. Coordinates the internet services offered to coop members. Serves as the primary interface with the account software company and is responsible for efficient and proper integration. Completes special projects as assigned.

Performs analysis of network needs and contributes to design of network architecture, integration and installation.
Serves as the primary interface with the accounting software company and is responsible for efficient and proper integration of accounting software with all aspects of the organization.
Maintains network hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals and wiring.
Works with consultants to ensure that the computer system platform provides sufficient computing resources to deliver the desired level of business performance.
Ensure all locations are in compliance with any federal and state regulation concerning computer, telephone, fax, and copying equipment.
Ensure all unused equipment is secured in safe areas and insure the items are maintained in good condition.
Ensure your employees maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative. Each employee should greet producers and coworkers promptly and courteously with a friendly image of the cooperative. Each employee should greet producers and customers promptly, and friendly, and work to resolve problems and report complaints to their manager.
Manage projects to ensure completion within timelines set forth.
Install and maintain virus protection and firewall for internet and IT systems.
Coordinates with other departments in order to understand and meet their requirements.
Evaluates network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations.
Checks systems in order to optimize performance and to initiate recovery action after system failures.
Establishes budgetary requirements for equipment replacement and develop a replacement schedule to management financial responsibility of equipment expenditures.
Establishes and controls systems access and security.
Provides support to and trains users in local area network administration and usage.
Monitors and maintains network stability, collects and analyzes network and memory utilization, and installs and tests software upgrades.
Manages computer operation scheduling, backup, storage and retrieval functions.
Coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software and telecommunications services.
Develops or establishes strong relationships with service providers.
Responsible for the maintenance of the e-mail server and the administration of email system.
Assists in negotiating contracts with consultants, technical personnel and vendors for services and products.
Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
Develops, maintains and tests disaster recovery plans.
Co-ordinates the training or directly trains users in the operations of office productivity applications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise the information services support staff. Direct and encourage employees to work with the managers and employees of each location to provide excellent customer service when needs arise.
Supervisory responsibilities include: training; writing development discussions; and making hiring, salary, promotion, transfer, discipline, and termination decisions. Facilitates necessary sessions for employees in their assigned area. Hire and supervise an intern or part time employee for special projects.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Computer Science (preferable); or five years or more IT related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of VPN connectivity, Network connectivity, E-mail software, Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
