About the Commonwealth Scholarships (CS) Program
The objective of the Commonwealth Scholarships (CS) Program is to facilitate choice in higher education and to increase higher education participation for Indigenous students. The Indigenous-CECS are to assist Indigenous students with education costs; funding is available for a maximum of eight scholarships periods.

Payments
Amount:$2469 per year
Frequency: $1234.50 payment made after each semester census date for a maximum of eight semesters (indexed annually)
Method: Electronic funds transfer
Eligibility requirements
Eligibility criteria:
·             Indigenous - Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
·             Financial hardship or low socio-economic (usually demonstrated by being in receipt of a means-tested Centrelink allowance)
·             Must meet all the criteria as per the Commonwealth Scholarships Guidelines 2012

Level of study:
    Graduate diploma (or equivalent postgraduate course of study) in an area of national priority required for initial registration to practice in the chosen national priority

    Education/Teaching - Graduate Diploma of Education

    Full-time on-campus
    Full-time off-campus
    Part-time on-campus (in exceptional circumstances only)

Applicant information:
    Applicants will be required to provide documents as evidence of eligibility
Application for this scholarship is made on the application form titled - 'Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships Application'. This application form allows students to complete one document which will be used by the ECU Scholarships Office to assess the applicant for all Commonwealth scholarships currently available.
Application opening date: 1 November 2012
Application closing date: 31 December 2013
Selection:Selection will be based on demonstrated need and personal circumstances
