Cargill Dressings, Sauces & Oils refines vegetable and tropical oils and animal fat for a wide range of food and nonfood manufacturers. We also make shortenings, frying oils, mayonnaise, dressings, and sauces for the foodservice industry. The business operates eight oil refineries, six shortening and oil packaging plants, a mayonnaise production facility, a dressings plant and a culinary sauce facility, all of which are located in the United States. We also operate an edible oil refinery in Mexico.  Customers include major food manufacturers and quick-service and casual-dining restaurant chains. Dressings Sauces & Oils is integrated with Cargill’s soybean crushing activities, which provide a reliable source of crude soybean oil for further processing.

Job Overview:
Cargill’s Dressings, Sauces and Oils Business Unit is continuously optimizing the performance of it’s facilities in order to minimize overall production cost and maximize yield to maintain and/or improve it’s competitive advantage over the competition.

The Worldwide Refined Oils Center of Excellence is instrumental in the development and implementation of Best Practices and Yield improvement projects related to the aforementioned efforts to minimize cost and maximize yield.
Specific areas in these efforts will include, but are not limited to, Energy, Centrifuge Operation and  Chemical dosing and – efficiency.

The DSO Process Optimization Engineer is working at a facility on projects and practices, related to cost- and yield optimization. The Engineer will identify and develop (together with the WW refined oils COE and the local team) Best Practices, but also develop and implement various projects related to yield optimization and cost minimization. The duties of the Engineer are driven by making a noticeable impact in these areas in the mid/long term.

The engineer will also work on the development of Blue Prints and support projects in other locations, if significant advantages can be obtained by such peering.

Principal Accountabilities:

10% Identification and Development of Best Practices, related to edible oils refinery plant operations

20% Implementation of such Best Practices

20% Identification of yield opportunities

25% Developing a structured approach to increase plant yield and allow for accurate determination of plant yield, using both leading- and lagging key
performance indicators (ROI, COE calculator, mass balance, TUC-gaps etcetera)

25% Development and implementation of projects to increase plant yield

Skills:
Required:
    Bachelors of Science in Engineering or related science, (Chemical Engineering preferred)
    Minimum 3+ years previous experience in a food production environment (edible oil preferred)
    Good listener, able to present complicated matter in a clear way, both written and verbally, engaging in discussions, basic negotiations skills
    Team player, respectful, reaches out for assistance when needed and offers assistance
    Understanding of vegetable oil refining
    Good understanding of process improvement, ACAD, MS Project
    Basic financial knowledge
    Ability to analyze complex data sets to identify improvement opportunities
    Demonstrated ability to lead change

Preferred:
    Capital project experience
    Demonstrated strong leadership skills
    Strong execution skills
    Solid understanding of reliability concepts
    Strong customer solution background
