Summary:
Stores, and distributes material, equipment and products within establishments by performing the following duties:
Responsibilities:
• Obtains and reviews the work orders provided by Material Handler III’s to determine items to be staged, moved, gathered or distributed.
• Labels or marks materials with identifying information once received.
• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color or product code.
• Conveys items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
• Sorts and stores perishable goods in refrigerated rooms.
• Open bales, crates and other containers.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as directed by other material handlers and supervisor and lead as required.
• Maintains equipment and storage areas as prescribed in a neat and clean manner to meet housekeeping standards.
• Complies with all corporate and government guidelines (GMP, Procedures, etc.).
• Performs all duties in a safe manner and complies with all corporate and government safety guidelines.
Education:
• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Experience: One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated ability to operator an electric wave and manual pallet jack. Will require forklift certification from Thermo Fisher Scientific.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to read and interpret as related to documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and react appropriately to changing priorities and impending deadlines.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear; and smell. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
1. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 2. Ability to work in a 2-8 ºC environment with occasional exposure to – 20 ºC. 3. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to various temperature conditions and the company provides the necessary PPE assigned to that task. The employee may occasionally be exposed to strong and sometimes disagreeable odors. The employee will be required to work near or around moving mechanical parts. PPE assessments, SOP and JSA serve to guide us in providing the necessary safety protection guidelines for employees that may exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise levels in the work environment do not exceed the OSHA permissible limits however ear protection is available upon request.
