Position Overview:
Ariba Platform team is looking for a gifted, energetic, experienced engineer with framework experience to join them. The team is responsible for the Ariba Platform that is used by hundreds of developers and millions of end users in On-Demand / SaaS environments. As a Principal Software Engineer you will

Duties and Responsibilities:
Work in core components that include persistence, meta-data model, object model framework, customization framework, search infrastructure and hadoop
Master the art of the framework design and modeling, understand the impact of object model design in a large-scale multi-tenant on-demand environment.
Work closely with application teams across the entire Ariba Spend Management Suite on the adoption of framework components. 
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
12 years of hand on software development experience
At least 5 years writing Enterprise level quality Java Code
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Quick learner with a passion for solving tough problems collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in any one of the following:  Cloud Platforms, Distributed computing (e.g. Hadoop), Search (e.g. Lucene, Solr)
Leading and Mentoring junior engineers a definite plus
Successful track record in writing high quality code and large scale components in a SaaS environment.
Experience in solving mission critical, enterprise level challenges
Knowledge of algorithms, caching, scalability and concurrency technologies.
Experience in using Java based open source frameworks – Spring, Tomcat,Virgo, Tomcat, Lucene, Solr etc.
