The position is located at our Beaumont, TX location and  is a part of the Agricultural Solutions business.  BASF expertise is at the heart of efforts to feed a hungry world.  Our crop protection products guard against diseases and pests, and increases quality crop yields. Production Manager ensures the safe, efficient and reliable operation of an assigned unit within the Beaumont site to meet customer requirements. This is done with strong leadership of and good working knowledge of the technologies. The position will report to the Site Manager and participate as a member of the Site Leadership Team.
The Production Manager is accountable for daily plant production operations performance in safety, quality, cost, volume, and environmental control. The Production Manager is accountable for the direction and coaching of the supervised work teams at the Beaumont site. The candidate must have strong leadership skills. This position will manage all aspects of the production function for an assigned unit from planning, scheduling, and executing production runs through all logistical activities involved with internal and external customer shipments. Principal Responsibilities:
Responsible for the safety, reliability, quality of the production of an assigned unit.
Lead the Daily Operations Team in plant operations and areas of technology, maintenance, quality, costs, safety and ecology.
Lead the Daily Support Team in support of the Daily Operations Team's strategic objective.
Ensures that training is conducted for all process and/or equipment changes for operators and supervisors as well as Operator Refresher Training on the entire unit once every three years.
Monitors and/or conducts shift leader and/or operator training as required, to promote safe and environmentally responsible conditions, actions, and processes.
Directs unit safety programs and supports/implements site safety programs.
Participates in environmental and safety audits and follows-up to implement all action steps required.
Participate in setting of plant goals, budgets and objectives and monitor performance to assure continuous improvement.
Daily monitoring of plant operation data to assure quality and low cost product.
Monitor/Control variable and fixed cost spending budget and capital spending.
 Knowledge and Experience:
BS degree or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry (or equivalent). BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education   Accreditation or equivalent.
Minimum of ten (10) years experience in the chemical production/manufacturing environment, with multiple chemical plant start-ups, and some process/project engineering experience.
Minimum of 5 years of leadership/ supervisory experience in the chemical production / manufacturing environment, preferably in continuous and batch operations.
In-depth knowledge of chemical processes and manufacturing technology and methods in continuous and batch operations.
Must have a working knowledge of maintenance and quality control issues.
Solid working experience promoting and maintaining a safety awarness culture at the site
General knowledge of equipment repairs, instrumentation operation, and the functions of related support and service departments.
Strong leadership skills to lead and direct plant and technical personnel.
Interpersonal skills to develop teamwork with subordinating peers and superiors both internal and external to the Beaumont site and BASF.
