DuPont Pioneer is seeking a Software Development Specialist to resource an interdisciplinary Crop Growth and Development Modeling Group. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with scientists and will provide scientific computing support to the group, including coordination of software development, and implementation of technical strategies of code optimization.

Duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will work as part of a team to design, optimize and implement algorithms to analyze and simulate biological processes at different organization scales (pathway, organ, plant, population). Crop Growth and Development Models and analyses algorithms will be implemented within an integrated software and data framework in the Linux environment.



Skills:
Education and Experience
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field and 5+years of experience developing with C++ is required. M.Sc. proficient in C++ programming will be considered.
Experience working with large data sets, ability to optimize code for distributed systems and parallel programming is highly desired.
Experience with relational databases and SQL, and cloud and emerging technologies is a plus.

Competencies

•     Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in developing with C++
•     Scripting experience with languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby
•     Demonstrated proficiency and working experience with HPC and Linux/Unix environments
•     Ability to optimize code
•     Strong database and SQL skills
•     Familiarity working with large data sets
•     Experience with Parallel Programing
•     Production experience using different operating systems, programming languages, technologies, and frameworks; track record of identifying and adopting new technologies and methodologies.
•     A background or interest in biology, genetics or agriculture
•     Highly analytical and detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication.
