DuPont Pioneer is seeking a Production Intern to assist the Plant Production team in Corn/Soybean Seed production.
The intern will be responsible for monitoring and improving processes; including safety and ergonomic improvements, quality Improvements, improving machine reliability, and efficiency Improvements.
The production intern will support DuPont Production System (DPS)/continuous improvement initiatives by participating on Focused Improvement Events, and problem solving concerns that arise daily from the production team.
The intern will play an important role in making production improvements.
The intern will be exposed to a number of duties performed by Pioneer Hi-Bred International management in the day to day activities of seed production.
The intern will be assigned special projects as needed by management.
The intern will be responsible for learning DPS and Continuous Improvement techniques, and applying technical application to solve problems. The candidate will gain a great understanding of seed production and what goes into improving processes in a production environment.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work on DPS cost improvement projects, managing them from seedbed/scoping to active/implementation to improve our 2014 Production Tactical Plan
- Inter face with Production, Warehouse, and Quality and Maintenance personnel to understand variation on our top abnormalities that need to be address to improve our day to day customer service
- Work with cross-functional team members (Production, Lab, Receiving, Shipping, Warehousing, Scheduling and Maintenance)
- Learn DPS DuPont Production System lean tools to use on projects
- Use of problem solving tools (5Why, Fishbone, 5D and PDCA) to resolve abnormalities
- Analysis current production system for Focused Improvements
- Use ergonomics and work cell design
- Use DMAIC process
- Development and Utilization of Standard work
- See and remove the 8 forms of waste in our systems
- Learn and implementation of Kanban, Andon systems for work in process
- Follow the project through the implementation process
- Document project status and issues in project tracking
What You Need To Succeed
- Pursuing a degree in Technical / Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Project tracking experience/training.
- Ability to read and comprehend component and system level specifications.
- Familiarity with quality ISO and reliability engineering methods and statistics.
- Proficient in MS Office programs.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
