Exercises technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Supports research activity by assisting in planning and effectively conducting experiments; recording and analyzing data. Ensures efficient daily operation of laboratories and/or field locations.
The successful candidate will join a team that provides spectroscopic analytical support for Pioneer's research and development groups, by providing management, monitoring research progress and creativity when executing research within/across projects.
Responsibilities include:
prioritize analysis according to customer needs matched to capacity; provide technical consultation to spectroscopic customers with statistical inferences, data visualization, and modeling approaches; work with colleagues and clients to provide support for design and analysis of complex models; assist in data mining to indentify critical or interfering variables under the guidance of project managers; Work with multi-discipline research teams to deliver data analysis in an efficient manner; conduct spectroscopy experiments while correcting hardware and software issues in a high throughput production environment.
Skills:
Education and Experience
A master's degree in Chemistry, Statistics or Engineering is required. 2 to 4 years experience working in laboratory is required. Demonstrated ability in research is required. Programming experience with Matlab is highly desirable. Strong communication and organization skills are required.
Experience with NIR spectroscopy, chemometrics or optics preferred.
Competencies
Competency to perform activities requiring broad theoretical grounding and understanding of classes of problems in a specified arena (i.e. chemistry, biology, agriculture). Familiarity with computers and statistical analysis. Communication and interpersonal skills.
