Summary: Manages all facets of a feed department that is recognized as a market leader. Provides effective leadership for employees and manages multiple production locations. Responsible for feed quality, service, and the pursuit of growth initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Supports Co-ops stated Vision, Mission, and Business Values.
Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.
Provides outstanding and courteous customer service.
Provide effective leadership to feed operations and sales teams.
Build and maintain teamwork through consistent and transparent communication.
Coordinate a feed price list and margin structure for all feed products with sales, accounting, and procurement employees.
Ensure all feed manufacturing facilities are in compliance with FDA, GMP, HACCP, and Safe Feed/Safe Food standards.
Establish and communicate guidelines for feed ingredients and feed contract pricing.
Build vendor relationships to benefit customers in an ethical fashion.
Supports safety programs and employee safety compliance.
Maintain Feed Accounts Receivable within company credit policy.
Prepare and submit an annual budget to the General Manager.
Investigate new products that will bring customer benefit.
Advise General Manager of business opportunities or projects.
Submit mill remodel and equipment upgrade projects to General Manager.
Develop department policies with the General Manager and ensure their enforcement.
Read and follow company and employee policies.
Accept additional responsibilities and duties as directed by the general manager.

Communication Expectations
Report unsafe, defective or impaired working equipment or unsafe conditions to the General Manager.
Communicate the information necessary to coworkers to perform tasks according to their job requirements, maintain location efficiency and maintain a safe working environment.
Communicate feed information to customers and employees as needed.
Communicate feed department policies throughout the company.
Ask General Manager for information or instructions when needed.
Inform General Manager of suggestions to improve safety, efficiency or increase business.
Immediately report any work related injury, property damage or theft to the General Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises 7 employees who directly supervise approximately 70 employees in the feed division. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with co-ops policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field and five years experience in the feed industry or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience. Supervisory experience, practical understanding of business practices, excellent communication and team building skills. HACCP experience preferred.
