Position Summary:
Futures Group seeks a Communications Associate to facilitate internal and external communication for a USAID-funded health policy project that operates in developing countries around the world. The project aims to strengthen policy, governance, advocacy, and finance for strategic, equitable, and sustainable health programs. Health focus areas include FP/RH, HIV, and maternal health.
The project also addresses key crosscutting issues, including gender, stigma and discrimination, health equity, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation.
The Communications Associate will serve as the HPP website content manager and social media editor.
He/she will be responsible for producing and disseminating a range of content to share the project's achievements, lessons learned, and best practices. This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate complex health and technical information into useful formats for a variety of audiences Collaborate with subject matter experts to prepare project success stories, policy briefs, research summaries, and factsheets
Prepare and regularly update content for the project external website and intranet, including writing new content and uploading documents
Facilitate use of interactive and social media and other online channels to disseminate project materials, news, and best practices
Compile and manage resource collection and photo library Provide publications assistance as needed Respond to ad hoc requests for project information and materials Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Exceptional writing and editing skills Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of experience, or recent master's degree with commensurate prior experience Educational and/or work experience in public health, communication, journalism, international development, or related field;
familiarity with FP/RH, HIV, and maternal health issues a plus Knowledge of USAID programs and communications style strongly preferred Experience with social media and networking, eLearning, and other online communications Experience writing HTML codes and changing website content, as well as organizing website formats, with at least one year of work experience with and proficiency in all of the following: CMS (Content Management System) Photo Shop to include scale rations and basic editing and manipulation, ADOBE Strong MS Word, PowerPoint, and other computer skills
Demonstrated experience publishing content in social platforms, including Twitter and Facebook. Proven ability to meet deadlines, multi-task efficiently, and have a strong attention for detail Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
Willingness and ability to learn new skills and concepts as necessary Experience with graphic design preferred
Ability to work with a range of audiences and partners across countries and cultures
