Responsibilities:
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Processing and Food Ingredients Division. We are looking for a Microbiologist, to insure conformity with food safety and quality specifications and standards. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, have the ability to multi-task, problem solve, and have the ability to make decisions and work independently.

You will:
    Be responsible for inspecting, and testing procedures for finished products, plant sanitation procedures, pest control and the microbiological safety of our products.
    Oversee the microbiological examinations of raw materials and finished products (including but not limited to) Salmonella, coliforms, E. coli, Standard Plate Count.  Responsible for the Environmental Monitoring Program.
    Be responsible for testing of finished products.
    Develop and recommend inspection and sampling techniques, quality control plans, process controls procedures that will ensure production of finished products to meet quality specifications and standards.
    Oversee and monitor all documentation of Good Laboratory Practice and inspections.
    Monitor plant sanitation procedures and train employees on sanitation and microbiological procedures.
    Be responsible for sanitation task scheduling and housekeeping inspections.
    Maintain professional status, competency and accuracy in all appropriate microbiological methods and techniques.

Basic Qalifications:

    Bachelor degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, or related field
    2 plus years of Microbiology Lab experience to include:
        Working knowledge and practical experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a microbiology lab environment
        Experience with common microbiology lab instrumentation, including autoclaves,  incubators, balances and water purification system.
    Ability to obtain Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification
    Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:
    GFSI certification
    HACCP certification
