The Quality Control Laboratory Superintendent directs the general operations of the ADM Glycols Laboratory. Directing the laboratory is achieved by maintaining close contact and working with the various internal groups of the Glycols Plant (Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, and Maintenance), and external groups involved in the Corn Division (Commercial Group, Customer Service Reps, Tech Services, and Research).
Responsibilities:
- Determine Laboratory Technician daily schedules and coordinate scheduled time off.
- Directly oversee laboratory daily activities.
- Mentor Laboratory Technicians on quality control activities and day-to-day production issues including procedure development, method comparisons, process improvement, and validation of methodsPreventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.
- Work with the Quality Control Manager and external corporate groups to provide Laboratory Technicians with assets necessary to successfully attain laboratory goals.
- Monitor product quality throughout the production process based on feedback from production.
- Maintain appropriate inventories of laboratory supplies and miscellaneous supplies for the plantPerform month-end inventory assessments, deviation testing and job hazard assessments.
- Direct maintenance and engineering on necessary projects required to maintain satisfactory operations of the laboratory.
- Contribute to customer and certification audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Monitor laboratory costs to determine areas for improvement, trends, and opportunities.
- Champion corporate-level initiatives designated for operations facilities (safety, environmental, quality, ethics, etc.)
- Report food safety, quality, environmental, and occupational safety issues to the Laboratory Manager and the responsible personnel, and aid in the remediation of such issues
- Adhere to the directives and guidance prescribed by The ADM Way
Job Requirements:
- Candidate must have good written and oral skills.
- Must be professional and able to maintain confidentiality and work well with people.
- Must possess the skills to effectively build team relationships and work effectively in a fast paced environment.
- The candidate must have the ability and willingness to learn and assume new responsibilities.
- Must have good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
- Proven housekeeping and sanitation skills are essential.
- Must be able to evaluate their work and use the evaluation to proceed onto the next logical procedure.
- Regular and prompt attendance is a requirement.
- The candidate will be required to lift up to 40 lbs and spend extended periods of their time on their feet.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Two to four years of experience in the field or in a related area is preferred.
