This position will have managerial responsibilities and provide scientific expertise for Regulatory Science in the discipline of Statistics applied to design and analysis of studies supporting the global registration of biotech crops. With global data requirements continuously increasing in scale and complexity, it is critical to appropriately design, conduct and analyze regulatory science studies timely and with high quality.
The incumbents main job responsibilities include the following:
1) manage Regulatory Science Statistics team
2) coordinate statistical support, and,
3) provide strategic guidance to team members and when needed, may also provide support in the capacity of quality control (QC) statistician or primary statistician (or Contributing Scientist) for individual studies or projects conducted across a wide range of regulatory science disciplines (e.g. field and greenhouse experiments on plants or insects, various lab experiments on insects, rats, or plants, etc.).
The incumbent will also provide expertise in addressing issues/questions and, may represent Pioneer in external fora that involve the participation of academic, governmental and/or industry scientists in the development of rational consensus approaches to study design, conduct and analysis.
Manage Regulatory Science Statistics team, including hiring, managing performance, and developing people.
Coordinate statistical support to ensure work is done on time, with consistent high quality and efficiency. This includes staying abreast of project timelines and priorities, assigning resources to projects, engaging in continuous process improvements within the team and cross-functionally with other teams.
Provide strategic guidance to team members and actively engage in technical as well as strategic discussions with team members.
Draft or review various documents, including protocols or statistical analysis plans, reports, submission dossiers, response to agency questions, etc.
May serve as QC statistician conducting quality control check for statistics work or primary statistician conducting statistical analyses for individual regulatory science studies or projects.
Review and contribute to study protocol and experimental design development. Conduct statistical analysis of data. Review and draft statistical methods sections of study reports.

Review and understand existing guidelines, conduct gap analysis and justify any deviation, plan appropriate actions in anticipation of new guidelines.
Appropriately allocate resource, identify additional resource needs and come up with options/solutions.

Skills:
Ph.D. in statistics (including biostatistics) with minimum of 2 years of managerial experience required. Candidates with equivalent amount of relevant education and experience will be considered.
A strong background in biology, preferably agricultural biotechnology is a plus.
Competencies
Established competency in SAS.
Competencies in S-Plus/R or a computer programming language a plus.
Good interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with individuals with different scientific backgrounds.
Proven ability to write accurate and articulate technical reports, and other business documents.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
