Job Summary
The Energy Engineer will be responsible for the identification, development, construction, implementation, and tracking of projects. The focus of this position will be energy and include all aspects of sustainability of the plant. This position will also work with plant management to identify best practices and solutions that can be replicated in other facilities within the organization.
The Energy Engineer will also have the responsibility for continuous improvement of skill levels for key operations personnel in the identification, development and implementation of projects that incorporate energy and cost awareness focus.
The Energy Engineer will also collaborate with a variety of resources - internal and external - to review and improve overall project resources as needed. This position will report to the Plant Superintendent.
Essential Job Functions:
Demonstrated knowledge of plant production processes and equipment.
Understanding of ADM capital expenditure planning and approval process and the ability to work effectively within that process.
o Will be responsible for review, evaluation and management of existing project lists and / or AFE's for replication and resourcing for use in other locations or applications.
Background in Engineering with a process control, project management, mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering preferred.
Ability to research and gather information in support of project development.
A strong interest in Energy or Environmental Conservation is a plus.
Project Implementation Experience; prefer experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format to all levels of the organization including internal plant leadership as well as divisional management.
Projects may include work in pump and fan optimization, process control optimization, boiler / steam optimization, chemical use and heat recovery and integration.
Will be responsible for identifying potential energy-sustainability opportunities and developing them into projects. Once projects developed, depending upon facility project prioritization may continue with AFE submission and project management.
Education/Training:
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in Engineering.
Certifications & Licenses Required:
Certified Energy Manager Certification a plus
