Overview:
The individual would be part of a larger team that together is overall responsible for the management of one or more technology tools for a service line. The product manager role is described as the “working sponsor,” liaising between the business sponsors of the application and Information Technology (IT) Services to ensure the technology tools meet the needs of the practitioners, including:
* Provide input into setting technology strategy for their practice.
* Provide input in the development of fiscal technology budgets for the practice.
* Plan and execute projects (medium to high complexity), effectively influencing project teams (virtual, matrix) and management of stakeholder expectations, communications, and scope management.
* Ensure high-quality of on-going product support and operations.
Responsibilities
* Develops and maintains strong working relationships with business sponsors to understand their business objectives and practices, and to achieve effective coordination in the deployment and support of technology services.
* Maintains overall responsibility for limited number of applications and products that are used within the practice including:
* Act on behalf of the business sponsor to maintain the product roadmap that guides development and implementation decisions throughout the product lifecycle helping to ensure the firm attains optimal value for investments in the product.
* Presenting recommendations to business sponsors regarding both the use and enhancement of the products.
* Liaising between IT Services and the business sponsor to deliver product updates and enhancements with specific emphasis on providing clear prioritized business requirements and managing the business implementation activities.
* Working with the project team on the design, development and facilitation of the support model.
* Working with the support team to understand critical support issues and provide recommendations to business sponsors around how best to address the issue.
* Provides meaningful contributions to team efforts to enhance overall departmental effectiveness.
* Manages business sponsor expectations regarding deliverables, timing, and how the technology approach matches their needs and deliver service in a timely manner with minimal disruption to practitioners.
* Keeps business sponsors updated on projects and/or deployment activities.
* Provides guidance and performance evaluation of junior staff members.
* Duties are varied in scope and require a broad knowledge, including
* Has a solid understanding of the product’s full range of functionality and a working familiarity of technology tools and services.
* Develops an understanding of the business drivers that determine success.
* Identifies courses of action and manages relationships for positive progress.
* Provides guidance, analytical expertise, and recommendations on detail requirements.
* Provides detailed review of development solutions and schedules.
* Reviews support tickets and provides recommendations to the support and business sponsors on course of action regarding issues.
* Receives general supervision and frequently works on projects with only periodic updates to supervisor.
* May modify some projects steps to reflect work group consensus without prior approval.
* Will work primarily in team settings.
* Supervision of extended team members and junior staff required.

To qualify, candidates must have:
* bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
* approximately 4 – 5 years of relative experience.
* good working knowledge of the EY practices including their methodologies is preferred but not required.
* good account/relationship management skills.
* requires a strong understanding of the service line services and software development life cycle.
* demonstrates understanding of scope, schedule and planning; understanding of time management, resource management, and cost management.
* ability to operate on a global basis within the firm with demonstrated ability to understand global issues in their focus area.
* self driven, able to learn new things quickly, to thrive on change and to strive for continuous improvement.
* possesses good project management skills.
* possesses good business writing skills. Writes clearly, tactfully and effectively.
* strong teamwork.
* ability to analyze problems and recommend/negotiate solutions.
