Sr. Construction Project Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities:
As the Sr. Construction Project Engineer- it will be your responsibility to assure that safe, quality construction activities are built into the capital work by the Project leadership team and executed by construction management (CM) contractors.
You will assure that construction strategies and implementations meet both project and business objectives.
You will collaborate with project team in the development of the FEL (Front End Loading) and then transition to an oversight role after the contracted Construction Management firm (CM) is engaged.
You will continue to oversee the health of the process, and make adjustments where project and / or business objectives are not being met.

Responsibilities include:
  •     Ensure that Construction competency is integrated into early Front End Loading (FEL), audit CM performance and engage all parties involved when expectations deviate from plan.
  •     Evaluate CM deliverables and performance to ensure project and business objectives are met.
  •     Assure construction is compliant to DuPont Corporate/ Business Intellectual Property (IP)/ Trade Secrets (TS) content policy.
  •     Facilitate project collaboration from FEL 2 through the Ready-To-Operate
  •     Assure Construction Management meets design specifications / RAGAGEPs (Recognized And Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices) and the capital facility meets core values, effectiveness / competitiveness targets.
  •     Assure CM use of best practices / lean construction techniques and that safety processes and programs meet expectations.
  •     Drive owner construction needs and objectives during early FEL
  •     Provide alternatives, assess risk/benefit trade-off, and offer mitigation options for final decision.
  •     Maintain strong working relationship with CM contractor leadership to enhance communication and continuous improvement
  •     Ensure a rigorous project change management process is in place and working.
  •     Initiate development and drive implementation of Project Quality Plans, including the auditing work processes and deliverables for compliance, and for meeting agreed upon project quality requirements and expectations for Construction Competency.
Skills:
  •     BS Degree in Architecture or Engineering
  •     Position requires a minimum of 5 years construction project management experience with multiple crafts/disciplines to include heavy industry or chemical plant environment.
  •     At least 3 years of experience in managing capital projects from $1M to $30M.
  •     Strong leadership skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a changing environment to meet challenging business needs.
  •     Understanding of the industry best practices.
  •     Good organization and communication skills.
  •     Computer skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  •     Experience with SAP/R3 PS, Documentum, and ICARUS a plus.
  •     Ability to travel 25% of the time.
