We have an opening for an Assistant Sales & Marketing Manager for Seed Consultants, Inc. This role will increase sales effectiveness and marketshare by implementing sales plans, developing marketing strategies and tactics, coaching sales staff, recruiting new sales reps, sales training and replacing sales reps that fall below established performance metrics and 5 year plan growth targets in concert with the Dir. of Sales & Mrktg.
Duties and Responsibilities may include:
Collaborate with Agronomy Staff to maximize product/technical knowledge from the Agronomy staff to ASMs.
Communicate and collaborate with Area Seedsman, dealers and distributors to maximize and grow SCI's market share and strengthen SCI's brand awareness with the Dir. of Sales & Mrktg.
Work in conjunction with the Dir. of Sales & Marketing (but you will be SCI's primary lead) in all aspects of the annual customer winter trip in regards to planning, scheduling, marketing, compliance and execution of it.
Develop and actively implement an annual marketing budget for the entire sales year with the Dir. of Sales & Mrktg.
Work in conjunction with the Dir. of Sales & Marketing for all farm shows in regards to assigning schedules, promotions, setup, teardown, paperwork, displays, advertising, etc.Work in conjunction with the Dir. of Sales & Marketing in regards to scheduling, planning and executing monthly sales meetings. Ensure the marketing plan is aligned with the annual sales plan laid out in the 5 year plan.
Attend and develop marketing/sales support for area field days, dealer meetings, kick-off meetings and winter agronomy meetings.
Ensure all promotional products are timely ordered and inventory is adequately maintained with the Dir. of Sales & Mrktg. Create and develop all print, radio, direct mail, seed guide and all other marketing ads/materials with the Dir. of Sales and Marketing.
Assist with ride and sells with ASM's and dealers to ensure SCI's sales and marketing plan is being properly executed. Ensure TUA's are in full compliance with PHI, Syngenta, Bayer, etc.
Develop and maintain a strong library of SCI photos and customer testimonials by riding with ASM's and visiting plots, farms, growers, etc. Maintain, support and improve SCI's website and social media.
Assist with the bi-monthly newsletter and the weekly e-newsletter. Develop and create SCI's annual calendar. Develop, create and submit timely SCI press releases to SCI's media outlets.
Identify, implement and facilitate sales training for the entire sales staff and new hires during sales meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions.
Conduct annual ASM's end of the year performance reviews with the Dir. of Sales and Marketing.
Actively recruit and maintain a list of prospective Area Seedsman from key universities and competitors.

Skills:
EDUCATION
Required: A Bachelor's Degree. Preferred: A Master's of Business Administration (MBA).
EXPERIENCE
Required: 5+ years experience selling seed with a proven sales track record of success. Preferred: 10+ years experience in selling seed and managing a sales team with a proven sales track record.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Ability to influence, coach and manage people remotely.
Willingness to travel and stay in hotels 2-3 times per week as the work schedule dictates.
Trait and Seed knowledge and experience in general agronomics, pest management, and plant physiology.
Must be an out going individual who is comfortable meeting new people and being in unfamiliar situations.
Must instill trust in sales team, customers and potential customers.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from sales staff.
Excellent knowledge of the industry and trends impacting the cutomers' business.
Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.
Must be able to comprehend and perform business math calculations necessary to accurately write sales contracts and calculate Gross Profit Margins and related fees.
Must be able to write and read reports and make power point presentations.
Must be organized and able to manage time effectively.
Must be able to speak in front of crowds, host customer meetings, and engage new people.
Ability to influence and coach people remotely.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple people, priorities and projects simultaneously.
Other skills will include negotiating, decision-making, team building, and time management skills.
Ability to pass a background check, substance abuse test, and driving record background check (i.e., moving violations, accidents, license suspension, etc.).
Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook)
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple people, priorities and projects simultaneously.
