DuPont Pioneer is recruiting for a Production Intern for the summer of 2014. As a Production Intern, you will assist the Plant Agronomist in the production of seed corn/soybean. You will be responsible for scouting and Integrated Pest Management duties including but not limited to: supply research studies, economic injury threshold evaluation, weed and disease identification, and crop progress reporting.

As an intern, you will play an important role in raising a quality and high yielding seed crop. You will be exposed to a number of duties performed by DuPont Pioneer management in the day to day activities of seed production. You will also be assigned special projects as needed by management.

You will be responsible for learning Integrated Pest Management techniques and crop injury thresholds and will gain a great understanding of quality seed production techniques and what goes into producing a quality seed supply.


Skills:
You must be pursuing a degree in an agriculture related field; sophomore standing or above. You must possess great communication skills, the ability to work with little supervision, basic knowledge of farming practices, and thorough attention to detail. As an intern, you will be asked to scout fields as necessary and help in any way needed during detasseling season. An agriculture background is preferred.
