DuPont Pioneer is currently seeking a Safety Technician to assist the management team in overall administrative coordination of the established Safety Programs and other job assignments around the plant. A majority of the job involves support requiring specialized knowledge, skills and competencies, unique to the function or department. Will act as safety team liaison or may have permanent role on Safety Team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performs complex, specialized administrative duties with minimal supervision.
Coordinates, tracks, and reports data, completes projects and ensure compliance with required programs or laws including employee training
Coordinates administrative tasks of key programs at the location
Regularly supervise various areas
Will lead efforts as assigned by management, which may include acting as Safety Coordinator or other Process Improvement activities, Quality Evaluation, Inventory Management
Coordinates employee resources regarding program responsibilities, training, contractor safety, and safety instruction implementation
Ensure safety programs are implemented
Promote employee awareness of safety through training, publications and safety statistics
May set up safety drills, lead incident investigations, or conduct training
Involved in contractor safety audits
Responsible for record keeping and annual safety calendar
Will assist management in acting as the liaison for community safety groups, EMT, Fire Depts., etc.
May be assigned other tasks in and external to the plant with the seed production scheme
Skills:
The following are required:
Two year technical degree required (Bachelors preferred)
Three to five years (3-5) years on-the-job or related agricultural, safety or administrative experience. Equivalent relevant experience and education will be considered
Willing and able to work in a variety of areas (field, plant, warehouse)
Willing and able to climb and/or work in elevated areas; standing and sitting for extended periods
Willing and able to work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditions
Willing and able to lift up to 60 lbs. and complete work that involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting
Willingness and ability to work overtime hours including weekend work required during seasonal peaks
May require shift work
The following are preferred:
- Knowledge of seed production
- Supervisory/coaching experience
- Multiple skills in operating specialized equipment and / or field supervision / technique
- Ability to interpret technical writing, regulations and procedure
- Maintains an awareness of existing and proposed OSHA and state codes and regulations and company standards and guidelines
- Attention to detail
- Ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions and anticipate needs
- Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
