Fleet & Live-On Captain - New Orleans, LAThis is a full-time, non-exempt level position.
 
Job Duties:
ARTCO Captains are supervisors.  As supervisors, captains are responsible for the overall operation of their boat and crew. 
 
Qualifications:
Maintain a valid United States Coast Guard Master of Towing Vessels Upon the Western Rivers License.
Promote a team environment at ARTCO, and supports ARTCO's policies and procedures.
Understand and execute individual responsibilities toward ADM/ARTCO's safety programs.
Maintain appearance and upkeep of the vessel.
Maintain and operate the vessel in compliance with applicable governmental laws and regulations.
Maintain fleet and security operations.
Enforce ARTCO safety policies and procedures.   
Serve as the vessel security officer.
Hold a Person in Charge and fulfill the responsibilities of a Person in Charge of a fuel transfer.
Complete required reports, including safety meetings, audits, inspections, and logs.
Ensure that crew-members report all injuries, illnesses, and near misses in a timely manner, and review all reports to make sure that they are completed properly, and in full.
Direct and supervise the crew.
Implement or recommend discipline for crewmembers in accordance with ARTCO disciplinary policy.
Report problems and/or damage to ADM/ARTCO equipment.
Maintain a working knowledge of ADM/ARTCO policies and procedures and implement these policies and procedures as needed.
Attend required mandatory training.
Coordinate fleet work and dock switches with other ARTCO tugs and direct tugs, as needed.
Other job-related duties as assigned.

Pass company Human Performance Exam
