Description:
Based out of your home, you will travel throughout Central VA and assist management in employing, training and developing retail personnel in areas of accounting, procedures and policies. You will serve as field support for retail computer systems (hardware and software) and accounting department at retail stores and private dealers.
First line of communications with stores on accounting and system questions and problems.
Audits store bookkeeping and accounting policies and procedures, including sales tax audits, petroleum tax audits and petroleum inventory control records. Assists management in corrective action.
Assists in selection and training of new bookkeepers.
Assists with implementation of the retail support system and accounting procedures at new stores, private dealers and store conversions.
Conducts training workshops for bookkeepers, managers and secondary personnel.
Installs and/or moves all RSS hardware, including replacement equipment. Troubleshoots system hardware, making recommendations on changes and relocation of equipment.
Provides analytical support to managers and other retail personnel on system methods to make the business better (i.e. SOAR, margin analyses, sales exception management and other key system management tools).
Assists Retail Accounting Department and retail store personnel with training and follow-up on accounting decentralization (general ledger reconciliation, P.O. matching and A/P).
Plans and supervises full inventories at retails.
Develops system procedures that are store specific and works closely on special procedures such as inventory write-downs, write-offs, surplus inventory, inactive items and customer and item purge.
Works with and supports district managers.
Performs other duties as assigned.<
Three to five years retail experience preferred
B.S. or Associate Degree in Business Administration with Accounting Principles preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Valid drivers license required
Requires physical strength and dexterity to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist and lift/carry 50 pounds. Vision, hearing and speech essential. Hand coordination to use computer. May require a valid drivers license. While traveling may have contact with hazardous materials and drive/travel and work in adverse weather conditions.
