About the Job
The Systems Engineer will support, provide analysis, develop requirement, and be accountable for the core infrastructure technology deployed at the HIMSS data center and distributed system in the HQ locations and satellite offices and is critical to maintaining a stable and robust technical environment. The role will maintain the existing systems software, and will help balance the workload related to core system support and upcoming projects including the core technology refresh and integration of new business units’ technology. In addition, this role will provide bench strength / team depth to support a growing global organization.
The successful candidate will:
1. Manage HMISS core and distributed server, storage and network environment. Assist in managing resolution of all network, communication and security issues.
2. Handle administration of all HIMSS network routers, switches and firewalls.
3. Resolve more complex technical issues (both software and hardware) as they are escalated or assigned. Support service desk (incident management) process. Provide analysis, development requirements, and present solutions for technical environments.
4. Administer HIMSS centralized Windows Active Directory infrastructure including but not limited to maintenance of User accounts, Group lists, Organizational Unit “OU” structure, Group Policies, Domain Security, enterprise WINS, DNS, DHCP scopes, etc.,
5. Administer HIMSS enterprise wide e-mail system including distribution lists, mailboxes, public folders, daily backups and restores as needed, Anti-Virus mechanisms, Anti-Spam applications/appliances, SMTP message delivery, OWA web tier, Verisign SSL certificates, ongoing support of a test environment, hardware & OS & application support for all e-mail infrastructure components.
6. Ensure integrity of system and application backup process. Manage back up processes, setting up jobs and verifying successful completion.
7. Maintain / manage the software patching process (WSUS) for the Microsoft windows environment.
8. Monitor system utilization and report on issues and trends affecting the performance or availability within the environment.
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, computer science or management information systems concentration preferred.
2. MCSE 2000 +Internet required. CCNA preferred.
3. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a LAN / System Engineer/Admin role in a structured IT/Corporate environment. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with enterprise backup solutions (LTO tape libraries and Veritas Backup Exec v8 thru 9).; a minimum of three (3) years’ experience configuring and supporting Checkpoint Firewalls in a multi-office environment and SecureRemote VPN; and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience supporting a multi-server MS Exchange environment.
4. Extensive knowledge and experience supporting: MS Windows Server, Server Clustering and virtualization, MS Exchange, Symantec Anti-Virus, Crystal Reports, Network printers, IBM xSeries & Cisco UCS server.
5. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience supporting with network/telecom
6. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience supporting Enterprise application portfolio (ERP, Membership, etc.)
7. Ability to travel as needed to support satellite offices and HIMSS customer conferences
8. Proven problem solving experience with multi-platform and multi network subnet environments
9. Proven ability to organize, structure and complete projects within established deadlines required
10. Excellent communication n skills, both verbal and written, are necessary
11. Creativity, initiative and follow through are essential in order to be able to perform the duties as described
12. Must also demonstrate a sense of urgency, take initiative, sense of ownership of their work, strong team player, constant desire to improve, positive attitude, and willing to learn and experience a new environment.
