Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED certificate is required.
• A two year degree in electronics/instrumentation is preferred but a degree in Industrial Technology, electrical, mechanical or automotive will be considered. OR, a minimum of four years of experience operating and/or maintaining complex, high-speed packaging lines may qualify in lieu of the educational requirement.
• And, individuals are required to take a Combined Basic Skills Test to verify basic skills and knowledge. Assessment Test Scores for Basic Skills Test:

Reading 63% (correct)

Arithmetic 64% (orrect)

Inspection & Measurement 60% (br />
Process Monitoring & Problem Solving 58% (

Mechanical Aptitude Test 70% p;mp;mp;mp;mp;ull; Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively; and be able to comprehend and interpret technical literature.

• Previous mechanical experience and the ability to demonstrate proficiency in mechanical repairs is required.

• Able to work with metric tools and measurements and be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of common hand tools. Must have the ability to use a multimeter.
• Know and understand the application of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP's and CQP's as they apply to packaging food products.
• Ability to learn and use computerized maintenance, procurement and inventory systems is required, (SAP).
• Must be a team player who demonstrates initiative and a professional work ethic.
• Must be able to obtain a valid forklift license and must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to reference, read and understand how to use MSDS information.


Major Duties:

• Responsible for the setup, operation (initial start-up and operation), and maintaining of multiple complex, high-speed packaging lines, conveying systems and support systems. (Packaging lines are defined as the entire operation including packaging, conveying systems to packaging, bundling, palletizing and stretch wrapping.)
• Responsible to maintain all equipment related to the bulk loading and shipping operations.
• Coordinates with production and maintenance supervision ensuring production lines are properly configured for the desired products and maintains the line to meet production goals and standards.

• Performs all mechanical repairs and adjustments, including troubleshooting, to maintain the line in first class operating condition. Some minor electrical and instrumentation equipment troubleshooting is required to ensure packaging line control elements and systems are functioning properly. Requires performance of hands-on mechanical activities.

• Ensure parts are available and orders parts as necessary on SAP.
• Assists manufacturer's representative during maintenance repairs and overhauls.
• Responsible to ensure the line is functioning and operating safely including sanitation, lubrication and any adjustment before start-up and during line operation.

• Instructs other packaging employees in the proper operation of the packaging lines.
• Identifies mechanical, operational, and electrical problems and corrects problems; and requests support from other maintenance skills when necessary.
• Inspects all incoming paper and packaging products to ensure they meet Company specifications and report defects.
• Ensures all packaged products are properly coded; correct weight, and correct appearance.
• Utilize knowledge and requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP's and CQP's in performance of duties.
• Completes Packaging Report, Equipment Log, Lubrication Report, Downtime Report, Return to

Service Reports and Quality Reports.
• Submits written reports via Notifications in SAP for improvements to correct operational problems.
• Initiates Notifications and Work orders to report time and record work done in SAP.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area.
• Coordinates the activities of other packaging employees.
• Performs various lab tests and analysis related to product quality as required.
• Performs other work as assigned.
• Works overtime as required.
