DuPont Pioneer is seeking a Global Trait Discovery Informatics Intern. This 6-month internship is designed to give broad based exposure to the activities of a plant bioinformatics program. The intern is expected to participate in all aspects of bioinformatics including applications of multivariate statistics, gene expression data analysis, and statistical methods for genome-wide association studies.

The intern will apply advanced statistics theory to develop algorithms for the analysis of high-dimensional genetics and genomics data. The intern will collaborate with researchers, write statistics scripts to process data, develop data analysis software according to specifications, run calculations, write reports, and give presentations to support plant genetics research.

The intern is expected to have a small research program that they will present at the conclusion of the internship. The internship duration is from January to July, 2014.

Skills:
A bachelors degree in mathematics with specialization in statistics is required. Previous experience in data analysis, and strong computer skills including proficiency in R and the linux operating system are also required.The individual must display a high degree of self-motivation, initiative, and ability to work well with others.
