Cargill Corn Milling North America is a manufacturer of value-added corn and sugar based products serving the Food, Feed and Fermentation segments. From facilities in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas, we provide a wide variety of products and services including high fructose corn syrup, corn syrups, dextrose syrups and sucrose that are used in an array of beverage, brewing, confectionery, food and pharmaceutical applications. We also produce a variety of innovative, dry corn ingredients that are used in cereals, snacks, breads, tortillas and animal feed applications. In addition, we produce fuel-grade ethanol and are a leading supplier of corn oil, acidulants, corn gluten meal and corn gluten feed products.

Position Overview

The focus of this position is multi-faceted and provides facility wide leadership in all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) arenas including air, water, and waste program management. As well as OSHA and PSM compliance strategies and program management of all programs. This position is also the primary interface with local, state and federal agencies as well as the customer with regard to sustainable operations, and EHS regulations. Supervision of up to three personnel in supporting roles for program development and implementation/maintenance of existing programs is critical to the development of sustainable production operations and succession planning within the organization. Additionally, this position will influence operational decisions with regard to capital expansion, modification to existing operations, and be a part of the site leadership team. Accountability for implementation of all programs resides with this position to contribute to the execution of the annual business plans. This position will also play a key role in the culture of the facility and will support a sustainable culture consistent with Cargill's guiding principles.

Principal Accountabilities:

25% Develop, improve, and champion implementation of an EHS Culture consistent with Cargill's Guiding Principles.

25% Develop sustainable programs and people to support Cargill Corn Milling's long term business needs through PDG program implementation.

20% Train plant personnel on EHS issues and perform internal assessments of EHS compliance systems.

15% Provide leadership and assist plant operations to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and corporate environmental OSHA and PSM requirements.

10% Promote Cargill through involvement in community activities and professional organizations.

5% Monitor, communicate, and report EHS issues and facility performance to plant operations, corporate, federal and state agencies.

Skills:

Required Qualifications:

    Bachelors Degree in technical discipline such as Engineering, Chemistry or Biology
    Minimum of 5 years experience in EHS field
    Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with EHS regulations
    Effective communication skills (written, verbal, listening)
    Demonstrated team building, coaching and conflict resolution skills
    Demonstrated ability to execute and implement programs and projects without direct supervisory responsibility of the team
    Demonstrated ability to interact with multiple levels of the facility and with outside agencies and customers
    Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office suite (including Access, and Project)
    Demonstrated experience in program development and implementation of new and changing regulations

Preferred:

    MS in technical discipline
    10 years experience in EHS field
    Experience in the implementation of ISO programs
    Auditor experience
    Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean tools
    Government relations
    Policy writing
    Negotiations with regulatory agencies
