Shipping Coordinator

The Shipping Coordinator, reporting to the Transport Services Supervisor, is responsible for securing and coordinating inbound/outbound transportation and the coordination of import/export paperwork and deliveries on a daily basis.

Location: Kansas City, MO

RESPONSIBILITIES

    Prepare shipping documents for domestic and international shipments
    Perform freight bill reconciliation
    Handle the preparation of hazardous material shipping documentation
    Process import/export invoices and shipments
    Perform import/export document filing and retention
    Contact carriers and freight forwarders to obtain freight quotes
    File freight claims with carriers
    Other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Detail focused
    Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
    Aptitude for customer service and compliance
    Have a basic understanding of US Customs Regulation
    Working capabilities with Microsoft Office and SAP
    Ability to travel 5%

EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND

    High school diploma required, B.A./B.S. preferred
    3-5 years of experience working in a similar environment
    DOT, IATA & IMDG certification (or have the ability to become certified)
