The Emergency Department Technician provides patient services and care, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control. The staff member will be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) necessary to provide services appropriate to the age group served. The employee will be able to collect patient data reflective of the patient's status and report the information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her specific age, specific needs and to provide services as described in the department's policies and procedures. The Emergency Department Technician performs clerical, registration and other duties as assigned. The Emergency Department Technician has work delegated by the registered nurse.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma required.
Experience: Previous ED Technician experience for one year, current EMT/ (Basic, Intermediate/Paramedic), or senior level nursing student preferred.
Licensure/certification/registration: BLS required. EMT (Basic, Intermediate/ Paramedic) preferred.
Additional skills required: IV/ Phlebotomy within 3 months of hire.
Additional skills preferred: Previous experience as a ESD unit secretary, within the organization may be considered. ACLS, PALS or Arrhythmia recognition preferred.
