The intern will learn through projects assigned through the Emerging Leaders and Volunteer Engagement Department of VIE. In particular, responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Supporting the emerging leaders in service department at Habitat for Humanity International focusing on engaging the Emerging Leaders which includes: Youth initiatives, Habitat Young Professionals (HYP) and Habitat AmeriCorps Alumni (H3A) , through activities such as;
- Setting agendas and meeting for the HYP Advisory Council, The Innovation Council and the H3A Council
- HYP/Alumni Best Practices Research
- HYP/Alumni Model Policies
- HYP Toolkit
- Emerging Leaders advocacy toolkits
- Setting meeting dates, developing topics and creating materials for the initiative strategic planning meetings.
- Researching innovative ways to improve the initiative and to outreach to Habitat for Humanity, its affiliated organizations and the general public.
- Writing case studies on affiliate experiences with young people and AmeriCorps engagement both through volunteer opportunities, advocacy and as donors.
- Engage the next generations are voices for the cause.
- Assisting VIE staff in planning, developing and implementing special projects including World Habitat Day, Habitat on the Hill, Leadership Conferences and Never in the Rain Campaign.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- An applicant for this internship should have good experience in youth/young professionals volunteer engagement, who has strong issue organizing, writing, media, and communication skills; has excellent interpersonal skills and able to relate to individuals in Habitat offices around the country as well as in regional and international organizations on the phone and in person, general computer skills including the ability to use Word, Excel, and the internet.
