Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) and Curtin University Postgraduate Scholarships (CUPS) are awarded to students of exceptional research potential undertaking a higher degree by research (HDR) at Curtin in 2014.
APA are government funded scholarships and CUPS are Curtin funded scholarships.

Value

The APA  and CUPS provide an annual living allowance of $24,653 (2013 value). This stipend is indexed annually and is tax-free unless taken on a part-time basis.
The APA and CUPS also provide a thesis allowance and a relocation allowance for successful applicants who relocate from another Australian state to take up these awards at Curtin University.
All successful APA applicants will receive a Curtin Research Scholarships (CRS) providing an attractive total scholarship package of $32,500 per annum tax free.
All successful CUPS applicants will also receive a Curtin Research Scholarships (CRS) providing a total scholarship package of $27,500 per annum tax free.
The tenure of these awards is for a period of two years for a Master by Research and three years for a Doctoral study.  Extension of up to six months may be applicable for a Doctoral degree only.  The tenure will be reduced by any prior studies already completed in the awarded course.
Eligible courses
Successful students must be enrolled in a Higher Degree by Research as a Masters or PhD student.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
·         be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen; or
·         be an Australian Permanent Resident; and
·         have completed four years of higher education studies at a high level of achievement;
·         hold or expect to obtain, First Class Honours or equivalent results;
·         be enrolled in or accepted to enrol in a Higher Degree by Research as a full-time student in 2014.

Current Students (students with active enrolment at Curtin in a HDR course) and applicants with valid admission offer for sem 1, 2014, please submit the 'Current Student Form' attached with relevant documents to research_scholarships@curtin.edu.au  Please write in subject line: 2014 APA/CUPS application.

Further information
Successful applicants must be enrolled on a full-time on-campus basis whilst in receipt of a APA, unless permission has been sought to hold the scholarship on a part-time or external basis.
Successful applicants will be notify by in December 2013.
Deadline for application is 31st October 2013. No late application will be accepted.
