Scholarship Title: Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA)

Purpose
The Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation,Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE) makes available each year a number of awards for study by research leading to a higher degree. It is normal for recipients to undertake study on a full-time basis, although, subject to strict criteria set by DIISRTE the award may be offered for part-time study.
Value: A$24,653 (2013 rate) per annum, tax free paid in fortnightly instalments

Travel to Canberra from within Australia; reimbursement of some removal expenses; thesis reimbursement allowance
Duration: Three years full-time with a possible six month extension. The award may be offered for part-time study in very special circumstances prescribed by DIISR.

Eligibility
Bachelors degree with first-class honours, or a research Masters degree from a recognised university. Australian and New Zealand Citizens, Permanent residents of Australia, International Students (who hold an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)).
Selection basis: Selection is automatic and based on merit
