Under the BHP Billiton Curtin University Alliance commitment to excellence in research, Curtin will be offering the BHP Billiton Postgraduate Research Scholarships for study in 2014. The scholarships will be awarded to students of exceptional research potential undertaking a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) in areas of relevance to BHP Billiton global operations.

The BHP Billiton Postgraduate Research Scholarship provides a stipend of $30,000 pa for a maximum of three years six months. Any study already completed prior to the commencement of the scholarship will reduce the tenure of the scholarship.  This stipend is tax-free unless taken on a part-time basis# The BHP Billiton Postgraduate Research Scholarship also provides:
# Successful applicants must be enrolled on a full-time basis whilst in receipt of a BHP Billiton Postgraduate Research Scholarship, unless permission has been sought to hold the scholarship on a part-time basis.
Eligible courses
The area of research must align with BHP Billiton’s global interests in the minerals resources sector. Relevant fields of research include exploration, mining, minerals processing, minerals economics, social and environmental license to operate.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
a)      be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen; or
b)      be an Australian Permanent Resident or Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder; and
c)       have completed a Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours or Upper Second Class Honours, or be regarded as having an equivalent level of attainment;
d)      be enrolled in or accepted to enrol in a Higher Degree by Research as a full-time student in 2014.

    will beincluded in the 2014 APA/CUPS rounds;
    must submit a written statement outlining how their proposed research will benefit BHP Billiton global operations.  Please email statement to: research_scholarships@curtin.edu.au   Pls write in subject line: 2014 BHP Scholarships;

FUTURE STUDENTS:
    Please apply for admission via: http://www.curtin.edu.au/research/futurestudents/admission.cfm.   You must tick 'yes' for 2014 APA/CUPS and complete your application as per instruction online. 
    Please submit the written statement to research_scholarships@curtin.edu.au separately.  Pls write in subject line: 2014 BHP Scholarship.
    Only students approved for admission will be considered for the scholarship. 
CURRENT STUDENTS:(students with active enrolment at Curtin in a HDR course  and applicants with a valid admission offer for sem 1, 2014).
