Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated sales professional to join the US Commercial Organization as a District Sales Manager for Channel located in Northwest Missouri. This position covers the following counties: Atchison, Holt and Nodaway. You’ll achieve success as a District Sales Manager by meeting business goals and working closely with your seed dealers to achieve long-term growth within your district. As a service oriented company, we’ll give you the opportunity to contribute to corn and soybean sales growth through seed only dealers and the Channel Seedsman.

Specific Role Responsibilities:
Provide agronomic support and advice to dealers, growers and prospects

Manage selling activities which includes developing and maintaining the relationships, and servicing farmers either personally or through a seed-only dealership (Channel Seedsman)

Maintain a thorough agronomic and technical knowledge of brand products and services and trouble shoots some customer complaints and work to resolve them

Call on customers with your Channel dealers and Channel Seedsman

Serve as a role model, teacher and coach to dealers, demonstrating sales skills and customer responsiveness

Manage dealer performance through the establishment, communication and clarification of sales goals and expectations. Hold dealers accountable for meeting established performance standards

Coach and structure on-the-job experiences, as well as identifies formal training opportunities that help enable dealers to succeed

Train dealers on business and selling skills to deliver the brand experience to ultimately increase sales

Assess skill gaps in dealers and build long-term training plans or platforms to enhance skill competencies in dealers

Enroll others in the Channel vision and Channel Brand experience; demonstrate enthusiasm for what needs to be achieved and inspires others to follow

Set direction using relevant business / industry information to develop a clear vision for a dealer network helping team members understand their role in achieving the business deliverables and goals

Recruit, motivate and retain a high-quality professional dealer (Channel Seedsman) to build a distribution network based on market opportunity to meet customer and company needs

Advise dealers on how to establish an effective, independent seed dealership and provide ongoing assessment and analysis of running a business

Analyze sales territories to understand the opportunities that are available in order to increase and enhance the Channel business that is consistent with a multi-brand strategy ensuring collaborating with other Monsanto brands

Provide after-the-sale customer service using dealers that increases grower customer loyalty and percentage of seed purchased from the brand

Qualifications:
Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, in Agriculture, Agronomy, Business, or related field required. Will consider other degrees with related sales experience

Minimum of 2 years of professional sales/account management experience or 1+ years of sales experience working in the agriculture industry

Experience effectively demonstrating self motivation, initiative, assertiveness, and results orientation

Willingness to travel and live/work in a rural environment

Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds (a bag of seed)

Ability to pass driving record background check (i.e. moving violations, accidents, license suspension, etc.)

Federal regulations from the Department of Transportation cover this position and mandate the passing of certain pre-employment requirements, such as a background check, drug test and physical
