SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this position will be to assess, evaluate, plan, and carry out occupational/physical therapy programs, according to physician orders, to restore maximum reasonable function and to minimize disability following injury or illnesses due to work related conditions.
Other duties include:
planning and using therapies involving physical exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity; utilizing various mechanical and electrical equipment and prosthetic and orthotic devices; evaluating records and reports on patient’s response to treatment and progress toward identified goals.
Other responsibilities include:
- assisting team members to reach their maximal reasonable level of function and to cope with their limitations;
- monitoring records and communicating patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation system;
- instructing and educating team members;
- providing age and culturally appropriate care;
- following Standard Universal Precautions using personal protective equipment as required;
- assist with evaluation of physical job duties within the processing facility and development of training programs and presentations for the local and corporate management team.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited program of occupational/physical therapy.
Board Certified as evidenced by a current licensure as a physical therapist by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts required.
Experience: 5+ years’ experience; experience with occupational injuries preferred.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office, ability to utilize Microsoft word, Excel and software programs used for documentation of clinical notes and invoicing.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
good interpersonal skills;
ability to provide written reports to treating physicians according to standard procedures;
bilingual is a plus.
Special Skills:
Knowledge of occupational/physical therapy principles, theory, methods and evidence based practice required; knowledge of effective practice, clinical decision making, and outcomes based intervention and their proper application in occupational settings; knowledge of current legal mandates to include federal and state law, compliance issues and confidentiality requirements.
detailed oriented with ability to sustain concentration over long periods of time; critical thinking skills; decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to read, comprehend and follow written instructions; ability to handle multiple priorities.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
Must be able to climb, kneel, stoop and perform assigned duties under semi-stressful situations.
Visual acuity is required in order to ensure that work is being done correctly.
Work is moderately heavy with frequent lifting and carrying objects weighting up to 50 pounds.
Work also involves considerable walking, standing, pushing and pulling of equipment.
Supervisory: May be responsible for supervision of administrative staff.
