The function is accountable for the planning, managing and the deliverables of all research projects, technology projects and pilot projects. The position reports to the Director of Research Project Management Office.
The incumbent will lead a team of 5 to 6 people. The position is also accountable for the development and implementation of BASF Plant Science innovation in alignment with strategy, projects and functions. The position ensures state of the art scientific concepts for projects in collaboration with research functions. The position proactively identifies need for projects across project learnings. He/she will closely interact with global research functions.


The position ensures  research project planning, managing, delivering and communication of all BASF Plant Science research projects  according to harmonized BASF Plant Science processes
Leads, coaches, assesses and develops a team reporting to the position
Is accountable  for research project strategies for all projects as well as the BASF Plant Science innovation strategy.
Is accountable for the monitoring of the competitive situation, intellecual property situation and the patent application filings aligned with overall BASF Plant Science patent strategies with regard to all research projects
Is accountable for managing innovation budget and research project budget according to agreed frame.
Is responsible for the exchange of learnings across all research projects, fostering interactions between projects and drive discussions with functions for improved efficacy and quality of technologies supporting projects based on cross-project learnings.


PhD in a relevant life science discipline with at least 10 years professional experience in biotechnological industrial research or development
Be a very supportive team player with strong  organizational awareness
Strong communication skills to be able to inform and influence with impact, high capability of thinking analytically and strategically
Leadership experience for at least 5 years, leading a senior team
At least 5 years of project management experience
