Beverage Applications Scientist

This is a full time exempt position

The research group of Archer Daniels Midland Co. is actively seeking an individual with the following qualifications. This position will work across all of ADM's business units and product lines to support the development and applications for various ADM ingredients, particularly vegetable proteins in beverages.

Qualifications/Experience: 
B.S. or M.S. Degree in Food Science or Dairy Science or related field of study with 5-10 years of experience in the use of dairy and vegetable protein ingredients in the food processing and/or nutritional products industries.  The individual should have a detailed understanding the use of dairy protein ingredients in the formulation of processed food systems and nutritional products;

Must be able to work independently on research projects related to the application of vegetable-based protein ingredients, particularly soy proteins in the above mentioned application areas;
Must possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and relate directly to individuals from the areas of marketing, sales and production;
Must be self motivated and be willing to work with their hands;
Must be a team player and have good written and verbal communication skills.

Position:  Individual will be responsible for working closely with customers in the formulation of vegetable-based protein ingredients into food and nutritional applications where dairy proteins have been predominately used.  This includes a knowledge of methods to improve the flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, convenience, or physical, chemical, and microbiological composition of beverages.This would entail working closely with customers to incorporate these new protein ingredients into their processed food systems and nutritional products as well as working with customers on product re-formulation, new product development, quality assessment and process enhancement. This individual would be responsible for organizing and conducting technical training for our customers and distributors in the use of vegetable in conjunction with dairy proteins in food and nutritional applications.  This would include both lecture and laboratory training.  The position would require approximately 25% travel and will be based in Decatur, IL.
