Position Summary:

The Project Engineer completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all departments and contractors. Has responsibility for coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects. Assesses costs and other vital data pertaining to the project to ensure that the project runs efficiently and on schedule. Examines architectural blueprints and delivers input regarding structures and support.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations

• Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management

• Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements and reviewing bids from contractors

• Studies product design, customer requirements, and performance standards to determine responsibilities; completes technical studies; prepares cost estimates

• Schedules project by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements

• Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems

• Directs project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommends actions

• Controls project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts

• Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommends actions

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

• Travel requirements: 10% - 30%

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering

• 2+ years of engineering, optimization, and process improvement experience

• Experience in Phosphate Industry/Phosphoric Acid Fertilizer mfg. preferred

• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and manage projects

• Must be able to show initiative and be a 'self-starter' to achieve working goals

• Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
