Grain company in northern Illinois is seeking a dedicated individual who is outgoing and energetic and is capable of and desires to run a country elevator. The successful candidate must have some grain industry experience (operations or origination / merchandising) and be willing to work outside and learn and perform all aspects of the outside operations at this elevator, but also be capable of moving inside and learning everything as well.

This person must desire and be able to eventually run the whole elevator. This will include dealing daily with the customers in buying grain, using the grain accounting software, overseeing the outside operations, and managing other staff.

Candidates must be personable with good communication skills, enjoy face-to-face interaction with farmers, not be afraid to work outside and get dirty, have a positive outlook and attitude, and desire to be successful in management. The ideal candidate will already have some grain buying experience, understand the grain markets, understand the need to call on customers and keep them informed, and be excited about the opportunity to build a business. You don't have to know it all coming in, but you must have a willingness to work hard and learn all aspects of running a country elevator.
