Industrials Division - Glycols Plant

This is a Salaried Exempt position reporting to the Glycols Engineering Superintendent.
Job Description:
The ADM Glycols plant is seeking a Project Engineer to assist with the management of capital projects to improve the operation of the Decatur Glycols plant. They will oversee the design and implementation of capital projects required for the production of glycols.
This includes identifying & evaluating project opportunities; requesting authorization for projects; as well as designing, installing, and commissioning approved projects. This person will have the opportunity to utilize engineering skills to improve operations processes including reliability, yields, and operability.
The plant produces USP & Industrial grades of renewable sourced industrial chemicals utilizing various continuous production processes and operational functions.
These include glycerin purification, Hydrogenolysis, refining/recovery, hydrogen production, maintenance, utilities, scheduling, and shipping.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility will be to ensure stewardship of viable capital projects from inception to commissioning.
This involves effective management of personnel and resources to balance schedules, budgets, and scope/quality of a project.
The project engineer will work closely with other project engineers, site project coordinators, contractors, process engineers, and operations personnel.
They will provide oversight of construction personnel during the course of project by working in the field on a daily basis.
They will manage project budgets and resources. Written and verbal communication of project activities and key metrics shall be provided to managers and other stakeholders.
They will size equipment, develop equipment lists, detail P&ID's, and other front end engineering tasks.
They will participate in process hazard analysis, contractor safety, and productivity improvements.
They will proactively participate in safety, environmental, quality, and production processes in order to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
They will assist in developing operating procedures and training production personnel on unit operations for start-up.
They shall maintain an awareness of industry trends and investigate the means by which projects can be improved, implemented, and managed.
This includes capturing lessons learned and developing best practices ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures.
Project engineers are expected to develop colleagues through training, technical support, and mentoring opportunities.
Employee will work in plant environment and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions from management. The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, lift 55 pounds, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, meeting deadlines, providing calculated information, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed. Prompt attendance is a must. Physical qualification to wear a respirator is required.
