CHS / Hamilton Farm Bureau has an exciting opportunity in our Country Operations Retail division. We are looking for a Feed Manufacturing & Ingredient Manager to manage our feed milling and manufacturing operations at the Hamilton and Holland Michigan locations. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be detail oriented, be a problem solver and have the ability to plan and organize.

These facilities offer bulk feed manufacturing for the species of poultry, swine, dairy and equine as well as a full bagged product line of lifestyle animal feeds. Our automated mills manufacture over 300,000 tons of finished feeds annually, and our ingredient trans-load system supports over 50,000 tons of farm direct ingredient sales annually.

You will:

Provide leadership and vision for the automated Feed Manufacturing and Ingredient division. Plan, promote and coordinate feed, ingredient and feed services offered by the cooperative to area producers through a team effort including multiple feed locations
Manage the region’s workforce for both mill locations in the areas of ingredient receiving, feed manufacturing and delivery through responsible training, clear job assignment definition and explanation, and regular employee reviews
Formulate annual operation budgets and manage profit and loss performance relative to budget expectations.
Manage a capital budget of $2.5 + Million. Identify and submit annual capital appropriations request, and oversee project through completion in conjunction with Location Supervisors.
Develop and establish growth strategies; execute comprehensive marketing plans & programs, both short & long range, to support sales and revenue objectives for the feed business.
Work directly with producers to earn new business, understand and anticipate their needs; respond in a timely manner to complaints or concerns related to products and / or services.
Oversee the ingredient trans-load business.
Understand and implement the processes and procedures needed to achieve HACCP and SQF Certifications.
Ensure all safety, quality and production standards are met at each location; including Safe Feed / Safe Food Protocols. Implement and oversee all safety improvements.
Oversee and ensure all corporate policy, local, state, and federal government regulations are adhered to and required compliance documentation is complete.
Conduct ongoing communication with management and staff to coordinate & complete all aspects of the consolidated operation.
Develop and maintain relationships with nutrition, animal health, equipment, and technology vendors.
Keep abreast of industry trends or changes to accurately answer patron inquiries.


Associate degree in Business Management, Animal Science or related program
9 years feed industry experience to include:
Managing staff of ten (10) plus employees at multiple locations,
Developing & managing operating budgets of $90 million plus,
Understanding of feed manufacturing processes, manufacturing equipment, ingredient quality, animal health & nutrition in a multi-species feed manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge and experience with government regulation requirements regarding feed manufacturing and transportation
Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

 Bachelor degree preferred
