CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Crop Nutrients division. We are looking for a Chemical Plant General Manager to join our growing team and oversee the physical build-out of our new fertilizer manufacturing plant. You must be a strategic thinker, possesses business acumen, and have the ability to lead in a matrix organization. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and have strong analytical, problem solving skills, and able to work in a team environment as well as independently.

You will:
Oversee the design and development of the manufacturing facility and processes for manufacturing fertilizer for the new nitrogen plant in North Dakota.
Direct and coordinate the overall direction and coordination of all areas in the fertilizer manufacturing facility.
Ensure the plant operates at maximum efficiency to meet CHS’s business objectives while maintaining a safe work environment
Ensure plant output meets the demand of the business and develop long term strategies around capacity to meet the long term goals of CHS.
Manage overall financial performance of the business unit by analyzing and reconciling financial reports; creating and administering operation, maintenance, capital, and expense budgets; manage depreciation and asset schedules, determining trends and areas of opportunity; advising others on cost control methods; and resolving budgetary issues.
Provide leadership to and develop a high performing team driven by solid talent identification, development and succession planning.
Monitor projects to ensure timely completion within the budgeted limits, keeping in mind personnel safety, manpower constraints and regulatory requirements.
Development and utilization of proper metrics for measuring performance in the areas of quality, safety, cost management, capacity management, and operational efficiency.
Identify, mitigate and resolve risk management issues Develop, foster and maintain a culture of safety.
Ensure adherence to environmental, health and safety standards, as well as regulatory compliance.
Coordinate and ensure clear and concise communication for projects involving management & outside consulting agencies to keep everyone informed of project schedule, goals, objectives, required equipment and manpower.
Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other technical discipline
15 plus years of progressive management experience in a petroleum or chemical manufacturing industry to include:
10 plus year of experience managing multiple levels of managers, engineers, EHS and maintenance staff
Experience developing strategies and action plans for plant activities and implementing time lines for completion
Experience with production processes, unit operations, and manufacturing equipment.?
?Solid understanding and experience with EHS requirements at City, State, & Federal level
Experience with budgets and design / build contracts
PE or PPM Certification
Experience in chemical manufacturing, fertilizer manufacturing
Working knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing principles
