The primary purpose of the Project Leader R & D position is to manage technical programs and resources for development activities.
1. Executes and/or manages execution of product development projects to grow top line volume in support of new product development as a percentage of revenue goals.
2. Serves as technical consumer resource for assigned brands and/or business groups. Partners with Marketing to understand the consumer, i.e., demographics, basics of product usage, psychology of why products are used, and the trends that imipact product development.
3. Translates consumer insights into innovative new products to support Company business goals.
4. Evaluates and applies new technologies relevant to the Company’s product portfolio in support of new product initiatives.
5. Participates in the development of products to ensure effective allocation of resources. Champions the NPD process.
6. Understands the landscape and how the Company fits in.
7. Collaborates with Marketing, Operations and other relevant functions to keep R & D priorities aligned with business needs. Updates project priority matrix weekly.
Bachelors degree in Food Science, Meat Science or related discipline plus 4 .
6 years relevant consumer products and food industry experience. Proven track record of new product development and commercialization.
Solid knowledge of the product development process from concept through commercialization. Outstanding cross-functional team player.
Ability to translate consumer needs and business objectives into innovative new product design requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should be detail oriented and possess strong organization and analytical skills.
Project management experience is required.
